Sadly, I miscalculated how many stitches to cast on, so I had to redo it several times. Finally after work yesterday, I got the right number of stitches (75 + 48 = 123) and I knitted 14 rows past that. Also, I probably within an inch and a half of finishing the right sleeve. So I really excited.

What would happen if I rework the back, taking out a lot of the solid pink and adding back the variegated Venedig yarn? I get more pink for a solid icord edging and overall, a lighter weight sweater, which could be good for summer.

The pink sweater is more problematic. I have decided canada goose uk outlet it would be really nice to knit an icord edge around the whole thing, but I don have enough pink to do it. This morning, before I head out to cover a political rally for the papers, I thought I get a post in about what I been knitting the last few weeks while I have been sharing news about knitterati. So the second day of training, I came back with some yarn and needles and started a replacement glove. However, in the afternoon, I happened upon the lost glove when I went to visit my page layout guru in the Design Studio, which made me very happy. By that time, I had the replacement glove about half done, so I decided to finish it and make a pair for a friend. And that what I did. I mailed the pair out yesterday.

As a Christian Scientist, I don really observe Lent, per se, but I have always enjoyed the comraderie of this project, and we do allow people to start early if they don think they can finish before Easter any other way. So this new green shawl will be my shawl for the 40 in 40 project, and I one of the 30 or so people who will be making shawls during Lent.

I still want to start Deborah Newton Lace Leaf cardigan, and I still want to finish the Swirl. I just don seem to have gotten to them yet. They probably have to wait now until after the test knitting project. Or maybe not

Edie Eckman is one of those talented designers who was flying under my radar screen until Deborah Newton introduced me to her at Stitches East. The first is one of those pocket sized reference books you can carry around in your project bag and refer to whenever you need it. The second I would put in the same category with Nicky Epstein in Circles book which I loved and reviewed a couple of weeks ago. the Square Crochet Motifs gives the crocheter glorious new designs to crochet in circles, triangles and other shapes, building on the same skills you use in Granny Squares, but taking you far beyond that traditional technique.

Eckman is an advocate of crocheting motifs like this because they portable, but having ways to crochet them together as you go. You can read about this in the Shapes Crochet Motifs, another of her books. I asked her if she could explain what she means without giving too much away because she has written books about this and I didn want to sound like I was undercutting her book sales. She said no, she didn know how to explain it a little to just whet your appetites, so I guess you going to check canada goose outlet the books out. But they good.
